“We visited Derryglad as part of a weekend group tour of the mid-lands. As a lot of our party were senior citizens they were familiar with many of the items on display. It is a wonderful place, full of amazing items and the owners are great people, so friendly and helpful, with lots of information to share and time to chat with everyone. Well worth a visit for any age group!”
“A fantastic day out for any group, we had a group of 40 seniors from Dublin .We started off the day with a boat trip up the Shannon on the Viking cruises which was great , then lunch in The Hodson Bay hotel and then onto Derryglad folk museum . Everyone enjoyed the museum and its lovely surroundings” .
Hopefully ye will enjoy it as much as I did
“We visited this museum recently and had a wonderful experience. It provides a real education in what life was like for most rural Irish families up to the 1960s/70s. The museum is a personal collection put together by the Finneran family and its done with real care, love and imagination. We were lucky in that both Bridie and Charley were there and showed us around. They are so interested and proud of every item. We had four children with us and they weren’t bored for a second. It is ideal for families and there is a garden and seating area ideal for a picnic. We highly recommend this museum. There is lovely pub, Hamrocks, in the nearby village of Brideswell which is handy for refreshments.”
Hopefully ye will enjoy it as much as I did
Children from second, third and fourth classes thoroughly enjoyed their tour of the museum and the old classroom. The children loved browsing through the 7500 items. The guide was very nice and friendly and explained all the information at an appropriate level for that age group. It is a predominantly indoor complex but suitable for all weather.
We had a lovely visit to this museum. We were made feel very welcome and everyone in the group enjoyed seeing things that have just disappeared from our everyday lives.
Great museum very well organised. Owner is a lovely man very interesting. Well worth a visit and we enjoyed it very much.
Great visit on Mon. 11th June. What a lovely trip down memory lane. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Great welcome & attention to detail
